Video streaming giant Netflix's top executive left the company on Friday following the racial term he used during the meeting with his team.

Jonathan Friedland who has served a chief communications officer at the company for seven years reportedly used N-word during a meeting Netflix public relations staff. Several people who were offended by the remark then complained the authorities about this.

Media reports said that Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced sacking Friedland in the company-wide mail to where he described incidents where he used the N-word.

Before Netflix, Friedland was working for Walt Disney. He joined Netflix in February in 2011 as VP of global corporate communications.

Theperson who will be replacing Jonathan Friedland is not announced yet.

Friedland also announced about his departure from the company on Twitter.

"I'm leaving Netflix after seven years. Leaders have to be beyond reproach in the example we set and unfortunately I fell short of that standard when I was insensitive in speaking to my team about words that offend in comedy," he wrote.

In another tweet, Friedland said that he feels "awful about the distress caused to people at the company". "I love and where I want everyone to feel included and appreciated. I feel honoured to have built a brilliant and diverse global team and to have been part of our collective adventure," he added.

His departure fromNetflixis the latest in a series of top executives resigning over inappropriate behaviour.

Ford Motor's former USchief Raj Nair departed abruptly in February after a probe on his behaviour, while Intel's former Chief Executive Brian Krzanich resigned on Thursday over a relationship with an employee.
