Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal saying his "concurrence" would now not be required on any matter.

The letter comes a day after a landmark Supreme Court judgement on the separation of powers between the elected Delhi government and the LG. A five judge bench of the court said the Delhi government did not require the concurrence of the LG who only needed to be informed of its decisions.

That battle however continues.

Hours after the Supreme Court's judgement yesterday, the Delhi government had introduced a new system for the transfer and posting of bureaucrats. The new system made Kejriwal the approving authority.

The Services Department however refused to comply, saying the Supreme Court had not abolished the 2016 notification which had made the Union Ministry of Home Affairs the transfers and postings authority.

In his letter to the LG, Kejriwal added that executive powers related to “Services” now lies with Delhi's council of ministers.
