Nearly a couple of years after the Indian Army launched surgical strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, POK, across the Line of Control, the video of the attack is finally out. The video of the surgical strikes, accessed by Zee News, shows Army officials demolishing terror launch pads on the intervening night of September 28 and 29, 2016.

The video footage was originally captured through drones and cameras mounted atop the helmets of the commandos.

The strikes came in response to the Uri military base attack carried out by Pakistan-based terrorists.

As per reports, para-commandos of the 4th and 9th battalions carried out the operation. The terror launch pads that were targeted were located at least 2 to 3 kilometres from the Line of Control.

"Based on receiving specific and credible inputs that some terrorist teams had positioned themselves at launch pads along the Line of Control to carry out infiltration and conduct terrorist strikes inside Jammu and Kashmir and in various metros in other states, the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes at several of these launch pads to pre-empt infiltration by terrorists," the Director-General of Military Operations had said in a statement after the strike.

The operation lasted for around five hours wherein commandos successfully destroyed seven terror launch pads. The strikes were conducted days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the Uri attack and warned that the incident would not go unpunished.

The 2016 Uri attack was carried out by four heavily armed militants near Jammu and Kashmir's Uri on September 18, 2016. As many as 17 Army personnel lost their lives in what is described as "the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades".
