Rajinikanth's '2.0' gets postponed again, to release in 2019?

While Rajinikanth’s Kaala may have passed a few hurdles as it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office worldwide in just three days, his other film in the pipeline with Akshay Kumar titled 2.0 seems to not get a go-ahead.

Heavy on VFX, 2.0 was expected to get released by April but was pushed for another 2-3 months. It was then decided that the film will clash with Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 that is scheduled for the Independence Day. However, sources close to the film reportedly confirm that the film will still take some more time and be ready only by next year, that is 2019. Apparently, a lot of VFX work is still pending as the rendering of huge chunks is yet to be done.

In a report published on an entertainment website, a source close to the film said, “With the amount of VFX work on 2.0 that is still pending, there is no way the makers will be able to release the film this year. In fact, the producers are currently working out a perfect release date for the film that will now hit screens in 2019. An announcement of the same will be done in the last quarter of the year.”

The source added, “By this year-end, the makers of 2.0 are looking at completing a majority of the VFX work but this constant delayed has created yet another problem and this time it is the budget that has gone haywire”

2.0 is being helmed by Shankar and stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in key roles. Akshay is reportedly playing an antagonist in the film. The film also has Amy Jackson. It will be a sequel to the blockbuster Tamil film Enthiran, which released in 2010.
