At least four people were killed including two policemen in a shooting incident in the eastern Canadian city of Fredericton, police said on Friday.
One suspect has been taken into custody, the police confirmed.
"Of the four people killed in this morning's shootings on Brookside drive, two were Fredericton police officers," Fredericton police informed on Twitter.
Police said the crime scene has been "contained", declaring that "no further threat to the public, and lockdowns are not required at this time."
"The suspect in custody is currently being treated for serious injuries related to this morning's shooting incident," Police said.

Earlier, the police had said commuters should void the area of Brookside drive between main and ring road where an "incident had resulted in the death of four people".

Due to the volume of calls, please refrain from calling the police station directly, and in case of emergency continue to call 9-1-1.
It said there were "multiple fatalities" and the "incident is ongoing", adding that people should stay in their homes with doors locked.
There is no specific information till now on the motive behind the shooting. The circumstances of the shooting in the capital of New Brunswick province were also not immediately known.
