Sri Lanka's star batsman Dhanushka Gunathilaka has been ruled out of the upcoming Asian Cup tournament due to a back injury he suffered during the practice session.

The opener will be replaced by 27-year-old left-hand bat Shehan Jayasuriya.

Lankans will start their campaign on September 15 against Bangladesh.

Dhanushka, recently, served a six-match suspension for breaching the 'Player Code of Conduct and Contractual Obligation'.

On Monday, Sri Lanka's Test captain Dinesh Chandimal was withdrawn from the 16-member squad after he injured a finger during a domestic Twenty20 match.
