This is not the first time when a production company has tried to make a spin-off of the popular American sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" but it looks like we might just have one now.
It has been four years since the series ended in 2013, and there have been multiple attempts at making a spinoff but it could never stick for long.
According to latest reports, a new team of writers have been brought together to make this happen. Fox Chairman Dana Walden in a statement revealed that a new spinoff is in works but it might not be called How I Met Your Father.
Twentieth Century Fox first attempted to make a spinoff series in 2013, a couple of months after the original series concluded. They cast and shot the pilot episode for the woman-centric new series and called it How I Met Your Dad but CBS passed on the spin-off and it wound up dying. Last year, two writers of This Is Us series started reworking on the series and renamed it How I Met Your Father but the show got stalled when the show This Is Us began and the writers were promoted to showrunners on the hit drama series.
Maybe, third time is a charm?
A new team of writers are now dedicatedly working on the series and the pilot is said to not draw any inspiration from the first two attempts at How I Met Your Father. The new team will be starting from scratch and the spinoff might not even be the gender-swapped story that most fans are waiting for.
Another good thing that might come off from the new version, is we might be able to see the original cast. The two failed spin-offs didn't include any characters from the original show while this one might just.
Whatever the plot may be, we just want the spin-off, Fox.
